RRG Huddersfield Toyota Fundraise Over £1,800 for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice

On Sunday 21st July, RRG Huddersfield Toyota transformed their used car pitch into a basketball court in a bid to score 1000 baskets in just 6 hours and raise as much money as possible for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

The Charity Basketball Challenge was a fun day event open to the general public and featured a host of activities to keep the entire family entertained. Not only were attendees able to help RRG Huddersfield achieve their 1000 basket goal, they were also able to take part in table tennis, a penalty shoot-out, golf putt competition and coconut shy.

The event was hosted by Comedian and BBC Radio Presenter Steve Royle, who kept the crowd entertained throughout the day with his jokes and astonishing basketball tricks. Visitors were also treated to a live music performance by the talented young musician, Liseli Briscoe.

Thanks to the support from the community and local businesses, RRG Huddersfield were able to  reach their 1000 basket target and raise an amazing £1,858.75.

Clive Mattimoe, RRG Huddersfield Centre Principal, said “The team at RRG Toyota Huddersfield always try to be innovative with the charity fundraising events we hold and this year has been no different. Our Basketball Challenge saw many staff, sponsors and customers come together to attempt the 1,000 baskets in 6hrs and we are delighted to have achieved our goal with just half an hour to spare! Everyone involved had a great day and the weather was kind but most importantly, we managed to raise a healthy sum for The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice who do such wonderful work and are very close to our hearts. We look forward to continuing our support for this crucially important local charity and who knows what we will come up with next year!”

Louise Addison, Regional Fundraiser at Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, said “RRG Huddersfield have always been one of Forget Me Not’s greatest supporters and this year they took it to another level. Their 1,000 basketball challenge was completely different to anything anyone has ever done to fundraise for us before, the combination of sponsorship from local businesses, the support of the community and the tremendous effort of the RRG team made this unique event a fantastic family fun day out. They raised a phenomenal £1,858.75 which will allow us to provide Neonatal care for a family with a life shortening diagnosis”.
